The full form of St. Bernard dog is actually St. Bernhardshund and also by the name, the Alpine Mastiff. It is a very loyal breed of dog and this article will help you deal with a St. Bernard dog in terms of dog training.

     Start young – The most important tip when it comes to dog training in terms of a St. Bernard dog is to start young i.e. when it is still an adorable puppy. Then you can start off by teaching him for housebreaking. You will have to notice your pup closely and it is only after that you will come to know what it is trying to let you know. In due time, you will successfully be able to decipher it signs and signals.

     In case the pup wants to go outside and relieve himself, he will raise his tail in the air, pace around or spread his legs. Before he does the unavoidable, shout “no” and take him outside. This will take quite some time, like a few days or even a few months but eventually your dog will get the idea.

     Other tips – Other dog training tips include teaching “come” and “sit”. It is very easy to teach “come” to your dog. It is a general tendency of dogs to come to their master anyhow but show yourself to be a little excited when your dog is coming to i.e. say “come, come” as if you are very excited.
